VALUATION DIRECTOR – PARIS

Based in Paris, London, Madrid and Milan, Aether Tailored Financial Services consists of a +50 person multicultural team, who are experts in four business lines.

1. Agency services: Aether operates in the private debt and capital markets, covering all agency roles: loan agent, bond agent, administrative agent, calculation agent, security agent, etc.

2. Valuation and calculation: Aether provides valuations of all types of financial instruments and securities, from the most vanilla to the most highly structured products for recurring, specific or one-off needs.

3. Corporate and Issuer Services: Aether offers an entire range of digital solutions for administrative management of corporate actions, such as capital increase, general meetings, registrar, etc.).

4. M&A Agency: Aether manages the M&A process from deal signing through post-closing, ensuring seamless transition and expert execution.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Experiencing strong growth and recognized for its rigor and execution excellence, Aether is expanding its Valuation & Calculation practice and is seeking a Valuation Director to support its development.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, who also oversees the Valuation & Calculation business unit, the Valuation Director plays a strategic role in leading engagements, developing the Corporate Finance offering, and steering the operational execution of the practice.

You will act as the technical reference point and key contact for clients, while contributing significantly to the commercial and methodological strategy. You will oversee project execution, strengthen client relationships, and co‑manage the BU’s P&L in close coordination with the Chief Executive Officer.

1- Client Representation and Relationship Management

  • Represent Aether when engaging with corporate clients (mid-cap, and occasionally listed companies) as well as private equity and private debt funds.
  • Define the scope of engagements in coordination with clients and their advisors; coordinate interactions with auditors, investors, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare proposals, present and defend recommendations, and negotiate engagement terms.
  • Build long‑term relationships founded on rigor, transparency, and excellence in execution.

2- Technical Leadership & Engagement Execution

  • Supervise,lead, and deliver valuation workstreams, including:
    • Management packages and free share plans
    • IFRS valuations (IFRS 2, 9, 39, 16…),
    • Valuation of unlisted assets, portfolios, and private debt instruments, plans,
    • Transaction‑related assignments for funds and corporates
  • The scope may evolve depending on the expertise you bring, particularly on complementary topics (e.g., PPA, fairness opinions, or other specialized financial analyses).

3- Business Development

  • Contribute to the definition and implementation of the commercial strategy, in coordination with the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Actively develop your network (clients, law firms, investors, alumni) and identify newbusiness opportunities.
  • Participate in meetings, events, and visibility initiatives.
  • Contribute to the production of technical or thematic content supporting Aether’s positioning.

4- Financial Tools & Client Experience

  • Participate in the continuous improvement of internal valuation models, methodologies, and tools.
  • Propose and implement enhancements to strengthen the reliability, automation, or depth ofanalyses and client interactions.
  • Contribute to the development of high‑value‑added internal tools.

5- Internal Projects & Cross‑Functional Role

  • Contribute to internal initiatives related to offer structuring, organization, processes, and quality.
  • Supervise and mentor team members; play an active role in recruitment.
  • Gradually progress toward broader autonomy in steering the practice within a highly empowering environment.

YOUR PROFILE  

Skills & expertise

  • Over 6 years of experience in financial valuation (Big 4, specialized valuation firms, corporate finance), ideally up to Senior Manager / Senior VP /Director level.
  • Strong command of accounting, financial, and tax issues related to valuation (IFRS,complex instruments, management packages, modeling).
  • Master’s degree (engineering school, business school, or university) with a specialization in corporate finance.
  • CFA certification (completed or in progress) is a plus.
  • Strong interest in financial markets and the valuation of complex instruments.
  • Excellent command of both French and English.
